The Pickle Posse® is made up of the infamous Pickle Queens®, their right-hand men the Pickle Protectors®, the 501(c)4 board of directors of the Pickled Mansfield Society®, our 6-foot dancing mascot the Pickle Dude® and hundreds of local volunteers who make the World's Only St. Paddy's Pickle Parade & Palooza® happen every spring. Want to join the fun? Find out how to volunteer by emailing [email protected].
The Pickle Protectors® are the Pickle Queens'® right-hand men, doing everything from selling merchandise to helping the Queens get on the float. At the Pickle Parade®, you'll see them - they're the men in black!
The World's Only St. Paddy's Pickle Parade and Palooza is held annually in Mansfield, Texas, the Pickle Capital of Texas, by the Pickled Mansfield Society [Link], a 501(c)(4) federally tax exempt charitable organization.
In 1924, Mansfield homemaker Mildred Dalton began selling pastries and pies in her local Mansfield community. This soon moved on to mayonnaise, sandwich spread and pickle relish. After a dispute with a pickle provider, Mildred Dalton and her husband opened their own pickle cannery that went on to become one of the largest in the United States and in the world, thus making humble Mansfield a pickle place.
In 2012, the World's Only St. Paddy's Pickle Parade & Palooza® was born in Mansfield, drawing thousands to celebrate the briny goodness. In honor of the Pickle Parade and the city's proud pickle history, the Texas State Legislature voted Mansfield as the Pickle Capital of Texas in 2013 and voted to renew the honor for another 10 years in 2023.
For the past 12 years, the Pickled Mansfield Society, ably assisted by the Pickle Queens, the Pickle Dude and the entire Pickle Posse, has been honored to stage the St. Paddy's Pickle Parade & Palooza in the Pickle Capital of Texas, celebrating Mansfield, its people and heritage, and the mission of the Society.
The Pickle Dude® first appeared at the 2013 World's Only St. Paddy's Pickle Parade & Palooza®. Since then, this 6-foot-tall dancing gherkin and his signature yellow Converse high-top tennis shoes have danced, zip-lined and posed for thousands of photographs to promote his favorite festival and his hometown of Mansfield, the Pickle Capital of Texas®.
